Alicia and J Bird's wedding

We went to two of my favorite friends' wedding...Alicia and Jason. They could not be more perfect for eachother. They dated for 3 years which is long for Mormon dating time. A couple of times, Alicia and I would talk when they were having a hard time and Iam always one to lean towards going seperate ways and being on your own. I'm not good at waiting for someone to be "ready"....mostly because I was never ready. But whenever we would have these talks, afterwards I would always think...wow, they really are perfect for eachother though. They are both very unique and talented, sensitive people.
They chose to have the wedding at this little tucked away spot in Huntington Beach where they keep the horses. It was beautiful. jason had put together a digital slide show/movie which was amazing...that's kind of his specialty. Monet loved the horses. There was twinkling candles with floating flowers, dancing, singing, toasts, and yummy food.

Blue Berry Muffins-hello!

My friend, Chris, dropped off a warm muffin on my doorstep before work the other day and it was soooo good. They are actually kind of healthy too. I asked her for the recipe and here it is:

Whole Wheat-Blueberry Muffins Whole wheat flour and a touch of honey update classic blueberry muffins. From eatbetteramerica.
Prep Time:15 min
Start to Finish:35 min
makes:12 muffins
tablespoons packed brown sugar
teaspoon ground cinnamon
cup fat-free (skim) milk
cup canola or soybean oil
cup honey
cup all-purpose flour
cup whole wheat flour
teaspoons baking powder
teaspoon salt
cup fresh blueberries
Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 12 regular-size muffin cups with cooking spray, or place paper baking cup in each muffin cup. In small bowl, stir together topping ingredients; set aside.
In large bowl, beat milk, oil, honey and egg with spoon until well blended. Stir in flours, baking powder and salt just until dry ingredients are moistened (batter will be lumpy). Gently fold in blueberries.
Divide batter evenly among muffin cups (cups will be full). Sprinkle with topping.
Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean and muffins are golden brown. Immediately remove from pan.

The 5$ I spent on the blow up pool was probably the best 5$ ever spent. I love that Ryland is also in his underwear. The other liitle boy in the pool is Jake. Monet instantly fell in love with "Jakey" as she calls him and pretty much wouldn't leave his side the entire time they spent together. At one point, Monet had fallen or something and was crying. So, I went to pick her up, but she reached out with open arms, crying, "Jakey!!" It was pretty funny.

I threw in the chocolate face picture because it's classic.

4th of July

Jim & Dara and the kids came with us along with our neighbor Nick and his boys.

This is Monet with a complete stranger she met at the parade. She likes to make friends.

These are some pics from the 4th. I think I've been in Huntington for the past 6 years I've lived here for the 4th. The city closes off Pacific Coast Highway and they light fireworks from the pier. It is amazing and beautiful. I was experimenting with my camera because there is a firework setting. Monet went with Robby to the parade during the day...I had to work for a few hours. We hung out in the afternoon and headed down to the beach after the sun went down. Just about everyday, Monet asks if she can go the parade. She loved it.

I love ani difranco

One of my favorite things I used to do in singledom was to go to concerts. I went to my 1st concert at 12 & I was hooked ever since. I love live music. I used to play open mikes around Orange County and met some amazing, creative, & talented people. I think I've written one song since I had Monet. I guess I'm overworked and over tired and it leaves me unmotivated to be creative. For me, writing music and other creative things like painting, never just popped into my head. It's always a slow process. I'll think of a subject or think of a melody or an image for a while. I just want the final product to really be something I love or am proud of. I definitely find inspiration from good music or art or a good book. One of my favorite musicians is Ani Difranco. I first got into her maybe 8 or 9 years ago. She is inspiring to me for so many reasons. She writes her own music. She refused to conform to a big record label, so she made her own label...and has done really well with it. She is an awesome musician-she kills it on the guitar and hits every note vocally. She got her huge following by putting out a ton of good music and doing a ton of shows.
I finally got to see her live last Friday at the House of Blues in Anahiem. The show was sold out & it was amazing. Her band is mostly her and her acoustic/electric guitar with a base cellist, a drummer(that didn''t over power) and a xylophone. Even robby loved it and he doesn't know her music at all. I was so inspired after the show. I think I'm on the verge of really changing some things in my life.
